Red Barn Rubber Flooring

Increased Comfort and Safety

Most stable surfaces such as concrete, dirt, clay or aggregate (loose fill) floors - are hard on animals standing for extended periods of time. Large amounts of bedding are required to offer the cushioning support needed. Red Barn Stable Mats are easily installed over any surface. Resilient, durable properties allow maximum support and traction, while anti-fatigue qualities reduce the amount of stress on your horse’s legs, back and muscles.

Eliminate Stable Odours

Red Barn Stable Mats are a full 19mm thick and tight fitting. While you can seal the mat joins using SIKA Pro - found at any hardware store, a stand out feature of the Red Barn mats when laid tight in a stable the  mats will create a natural caulking from the bedding in time. A modest amount of bedding used along with Red Barn Stall Mats absorbs waste on top of the mats. Removing the soiled bedding allows you to remove nearly 100% of the waste and odour. By not gluing down the mats you still have the ability or option to lift the mats to hose out and "spring clean" your stable.

An estimated 8 or of 10 customer do not glue the Red Barn mats down.

Reduce Stable Cleaning Time by up 50%

With Red Barn Stable Mats, the amount of bedding needed is dramatically reduced. The mats provide improved cushioning support the horse needs.

Due to the weight of horses you will need bedding, without they will rub or scuff their elbows and hocks in the stable environment getting up and down for rest. Also - what is going to soak up the urine! You will largely reduce your bedding and stable costs. Your daily maintenance costs will be reduced up to 50%, saving both time and money.

This versatile product can be used for stables mats, breezeway and concrete floor coverings as well as truck, float and trailer flooring. We only offer the one product as it works - that simple. The mats work well on dirt, gravel, blue metal all sorts of floors.

FAQs

The amount of traction in a mat is directly related to the softness or hardness of the mat, this is called the “co-efficient of friction”. The harder the surface, with or without texturing (pebbles, ridging, grooves etc), the more slippery the mat is. The softer the mat, with or without texturing, the more traction the mat will provide. The trick is to get the mats soft and strong... and that is what Tender Foot has done!
Grooved mats appear to have great advantages over non-grooved mats. Remember, a mat is only as thick as its thinnest point or only as strong as its weakest point. Grooved mats are an advantage to the manufacturer in that they require less material to produce and can be sold for the same amount as a regular, non-grooved mat. This means that when you purchase a 3/4” (19mm) thick grooved mat, you actually get the strength of a 1/2” (12mm) thick mat. When installing a grooved mat over concrete, the mat collapses between the grooves. Over loose fill or aggregate surfaces, the grooves fill up, choking any ventilation the manufacturer promised. When installing grooved mats over any surface, the grooves become a prime area for bacteria to grow and multiply.
Large mats have drawbacks! Large mats, such as a 6’ x 12’ (1.8m x 3.6m) weigh up to 130k. and were not designed for livestock use. In fact, they were made for conveyor belts and other machinery. Those mats are very hard and contain fibres such as nylon and rayon. These fibres do not expand and contract with the rubber, eventually resulting in curling, cracking and shrinking. If the mats are too small they cannot endure the weight of the animals that will be standing and travelling on them. A 550kg horse screwing around on one hind leg will lift, tear and displace smaller mats. We know this because we replace a lot of yearling barn and stallion breeding barn flooring for this reason.
